Clinical Instructor - School Of X-Ray

Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, current bargaining unit employees have priority consideration for this position if they apply within seven (7) days of the posting date. After this period, all applicants will be considered equally.

Primary: 8:00am-4:30pm

Secondary: 7:00am-3:30pm

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Program Director and clinical supervisor, performs these duties directly involved with the clinical education of student radiographers. Supervises clinical education, evaluates progress, maintains records and counsels students in the clinical setting and teaches classes as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills Required:
1.Must be licensed by the New York State Department of Health and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and maintain a current status.
2.Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology required. Bachelor Degree or pursuing a degree preferred.
3.Experience as staff technologist in a hospital setting for a minimum of two years. Maintains competency in the professional discipline, instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development and pursuit of scholarly activities.
4.Demonstrated proficiency in clinical instruction and student evaluation through experience or by pursing courses pertinent to the profession. Knowledgeable of program goals. Understands the clinical objectives and clinical evaluation system.
5.Requires positive and effective communication skills for interaction with students during image critique and counseling.
6.Requires sufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills in dealing with apprehensive patients and family in a professional compassionate manner.
7.Requires positive and effective communication skills for interaction with physicians and staff in any situation.
8.Successfully completed the Clinical Instructor Academy through the ASRT (American Society of Radiologic Technologists). This meets the JRCERT (Joint Review Committee on Education of Radiologic Technology) standards for Radiography Clinical Instructors.
9.Must be an approved Clinical Instructor with the JRCERT within one year.
